Marion Pardy
The Very Rev. Dr. Marion Pardy, the 37th Moderator of The United Church of Canada was born and raised in Newfoundland. Marion has a personal history which attest to the positive influence of church in our lives. Having come through experiences in Mission band, Explorers, CGIT, Young People's Group and more, she left her native Gander to pursue studies which resulted in a life of service in the church, culminating with her term as Moderator. Her MA Theseis, Models of Biblical Authority, explored the authority of Scripture in the UCC. Her interest in the use of the BIble in Christian Education, particularly with children, resulted in the publication of Teaching Children the Bible. Her D.Min Thesis, Biblical Understanding In The Local Congregation, focused on narrowing the gap between theological education and congregational biblical education and provides substantive guidelines for teaching the Bible effectively in the local congregation. Marion has served congregations across Canada, and the UCC nationally in many capacities, as well as being involvved with the Canadian (as VP) and World Councils of Churches.
Marion is an avid reader, appreciates time with friends and family and enjoys her ocean-view cottage and habour-view apartment. She is very committed to the theology and practices of The United Church of Canada.
